Aloha Friday! Frugal?

Photobucket

Yay! It's Aloha Friday!

My Aloha Friday question is:

Are you frugal? A little? Not at all? Or a total frugalista??

Photobucket

I'm sooo frugalicious! :D
Not on everything.
But, on most.
I love bargains.
I love garage sales.
I love that being frugal sometimes leads to getting back to basics.
I love freecycle.
I love that there are so many ways to be both frugal and 'green'.

Didn't I just hear somewhere that being green and frugal is the new black? =)

So spill, are you frugalicious?

Head on over to An Island Life for more Aloha Friday questions and to play.

Have a fabulous weekend!

The Year's At The Spring

Photobucket
Snapped this afternoon- My tulips reaching for the sky.

The year's at the spring,
And day's at the morn;
Morning's at seven;
The hill-side's dew-pearled;
The lark's on the wing;
The snail's on the thorn;
God's in his Heaven—
All's right with the world!

Does spring rejuvenate you, too?

The Little Boy and the Old Man

Said the little boy, "Sometimes I drop my spoon."
Said the old man, "I do that too."
The little boy whispered, "I wet my pants."
"I do that too," laughed the little old man.
Said the little boy, "I often cry."
The old man nodded, "So do I."
"But worst of all," said the boy, "it seems
Grown-ups don't pay attention to me."
And he felt the warmth of a wrinkled old hand.
"I know what you mean," said the little old man.

Yesterday afternoon while Haley was getting ready to go to the movies with friends...

Me: Noticing a yellow thermal tee on her bed. Oh,that's cute. Are you wearing that with tee over it?

Haley: confused?. Ummm. No.

Me: Oh, I thought I seen people wearing the layers like that.

Haley: Not this generation, Mom.

Me: Thinking later... did she really just say not this generation?

Last night in the grocery store after a few minutes of chat with a cute elderly couple...

Haley: You always have conversations in stores with old people.

Me: Mmm-hmmm. I like old people. (Honestly, I'm like an old people beacon, they seek me out to chit-chat.)

Haley: laughing. Did you hear him say, 'buggy?' It's a cart.

Oh how large the generation gap grows...

... or is it just me growing older?

preserves!

Guess what I crossed off my to-do docket?

Photobucket

One word. Delicious!

Pineapple Preserves
Recipe courtesy of Cookiedog- RecipeZaar

20 ounces crushed pineapple in juice
2 cups granulated sugar

1- Bring pineapple and sugar to a boil in a large saucepan and cook 20 minutes, stirring constantly until thickened or until the temperature reaches 200 degrees- jelly stage- on a thermometer.
2- Pour immediately into hot sterilized jars and process in a water-bath canner for 5 minutes. Place jars on a clean towel. Cover with towel to prevent drafts and let cool for 24 hours.

*You'll hear them 'pop' when they seal. =)

Photobucket

They look so pretty all lined up in my pantry in their adorable little jars.

I've already gave away a few of these with one small request- Please return the jar.

Is that tacky? ;P
